Antonio Maurice Bland, 60, of Ypsilanti, MI passed away January 30, 2022.
Antonio Maurice Bland (Tony) was born on May 7,1961 in Wayne, Michigan at Annapolis Hospital to parents Mattie Mae Bland and Major Green Jr.
Tony accepted Christ at an early age. Then later he transitioned into Islam. Tony attended Romulus Schools until his senior year where he finished his schooling at Orchard Lake St. Mary and matured and earned his high school diploma in 1979.
After high school, Tony joined the United States Marine Corps in 1978 and within the two years of service receiving many of accolades and awards as a Lance Corporal, he learned how to drive tanks and trucks. After being honorably discharged in 1981 he returned home to spend time with his father and help with the family business.
Tony was employed with the United States Post Office as a Tractor Tailor in 1984 where he retired in 1994 to go into business for himself as a truck driver. His company was named MGJR Transportation after his beloved father Major Green Jr. He was remarkably successful in his career where he retired in 2006 due to certain illness made him stop driving, something he loved to do.
Tony was joined in holy matrimony with Zandra White. He became stepfather to Tyricia White and father to Tondra Bland.
Tony’s favorite hobbies were truck driving, racing, watching football, riding motorcycles and boats. He enjoyed most of all spending time with his family, especially his grandbabies LaMiracle and Faith Bland. His first cousin/brother Darnell Green and cousin/brother Darwin Harris Sr. and friends and family.
Antonio departed this life on Janurary 30, 2022. He was preceded in death by: his parents Major Green Jr. and Mattie Bland, Jenny Harris (Albert Harris), uncles and aunts.
He leaves to cherish his memories two daughters: Tondra Bland and Tyricia White (Zandra Bland), two granddaughters: LaMiracle Bland and Faith Bland, one uncle: Aziz Khalifa, one aunt: Nina Davis, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, and classmates.
