Willie Earl McGregor, Age 69, of Westland, MI passed away June 29, 2019.

The Angel of the Lord converged upon Beaumont Hospital in Wayne, Michigan and tenderly lifted the soul of Willie Earl McGregor beyond the reach of mortal man on Saturday, June 29th 2019.

Earl entered his life‘s journey in Sylacauga, Alabama on August 4, 1949. He was the oldest son born to the union of the late George and Eula Mae McGregor. Earl was reared in a home that valued God, discipline and education.

In the early fifties the family relocated to Detroit, Michigan. Their home was filled with love, laughter and three home-cooked meals including homemade rolls every Sunday. Earl would put the rolls in his pockets as he went out to play.

The family attending Burnette Baptist Church, where Earl accepted Christ and received his early Christian education.

Earl attended Detroit Public Schools and was a graduate of Northern High School. He enjoyed playing sports and was a member of the track team. He attended Washtenaw Community College in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Earl also attended the School of Culinary Arts in Plains, New York where he received his training as a professional chef. Earl was employed as the head chef at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Ann Arbor, until his retirement in 1996.

In 1968 Earl enlisted in the United States Marine Corps; he was honored to serve his country with distinction. He courageously served in the Vietnam War.

After Earl returned home from his military tour of duty, he met the love of his life, Arlene Teresa Frye. They were united in Holy Matrimony on June 14, 1991. Ewee,  as Teresa affectionately called him was an incredibly-loving and devoted husband. “Chef  Earl” had the ardent passion for cooking and enjoyed preparing meals for his wife.

Earl and Teresa enjoy traveling to many places through-out the United States, including their favorite city, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. They also found great pleasure in returning to Sylacauga, Alabama to visit his paternal grandmother.

Earl is a published author of a book entitled, Which Christ? A book describing his profound experience with God; leading to the close examination and weighing the “choices” God offers to us.

He leaves in the picture gallery of life to cherish his memories, his devoted and loving wife, Arlene Theresa; nine siblings, Helen Washington, Joyce Ann (Bob) Osburn, Yvonne Anderson, Larry Wilson, Garry (Rita), Brenda, Terry, Marvin (Patricia) and Robert (Katherine) McGregor; his brothers and sisters in the Frye family; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Willie Earl McGregor was preceded in death by his parents, George and Eula Mae McGregor.

The memories of Earl will linger on in the hearts and minds of his entire family and friends.
