Weldon Brown, Age 68, of Belleville, MI passed away January 25, 2019.
Weldon Leon Brown was born in Sylvester, Georgia on October 24, 1950 and was Bertha Lee Brown’s first child. She and Weldon moved a few years later to Detroit, Michigan where she met, dated and married Eddie Lee Hall. Upon their legal separation, Weldon became like a father to his six siblings. At the age of 17 he graduated from Chadsey High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served two terms. While he was stationed in Germany, Weldon met and married Margot Kaiser. With his bride, he returned to Detroit. He attended Wayne State University and worked at the United States Postal Service. Weldon and Margot divorced however he graduated from Wayne State and received a Bachelor of Science degree. He became “Mr. Brown” as a middle school teacher for the Detroit Board of Education. Weldon chose to teach in the neighborhood where he grew up and inspired teens to attend college. He encouraged many of the students to become active within their communities. He loved working with children and became involved with the after-school programs. There are so many students and teachers that remember him as their favorite teacher.
Weldon had a son, Weldon Sturtevant, who preceded him in death. He later united with Juanita and formed a special bond with love of family with daughters Jeneen and Danielle. Family love expanded for Weldon as Jeneen's family expanded with her children Juan, Younique and Lyncoln. As did Danielle's children expanded to Robert Gene (who preceded him in death) and Lowell. Love of family has now expanded with Younique's (Keith) children, Symira, Lauren and Koby who love their "GG-pa."
Weldon loved to read and cook. He also enjoyed watching westerns and any sport. Most of all he loved being with family.
Weldon accepted Christ three weeks before he suffered a stroke in March 2015 and continued to be thankful that God saved him and that he had now found a great CHURCH family. He came to Belleville, Michigan to live with his sister Audrie until the time of his passing. He was preceded in death by his mother, two brothers Julian Hall & Darrell Hall and one brother-in-law Fred Windmon. .
Weldon leaves to cherish his memory, three sisters, Audrie Windmon, Glenda Mickens (William) and Linda Tucker (David); one brother, Eddie Hall; two special friends he has known since his adolescence, Charles Wilson and Trenton Johnson; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
