Sandra Y. Schofield

Sandra Yvonne Schofield, 75, of Westland, MI passed away February 17, 2021.

Sandra Yvonne Kirkland was born August 8, 1945 in Detroit, Michigan to Zor James Kirkland and Mary Ruth Simmons.

Sandra accepted Christ at 11 years old at New Calvary Baptist Church in Detroit. She was a dedicated servant and woman of faith. She was a long-time member of Joy Baptist Church in Westland, Michigan. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. One of her favorite parts of the day was when she spent time with the Lord. She absolutely loved sharing her knowledge of scripture. Her favorite Bible verse is Psalm 23:1-6, A Psalm of David.

Sandra attended Wayne State University and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 2009. She had a love for learning and was committed to lifelong learning. She also worked for Wayne State University for several years as a student assistant and lab tech.

Sandra enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She had a zeal for life, was an elegant dresser and celebrated some of life’s most joyous events during her time.

God called Sandra home to be with him on Wednesday, February 17, 2021.Sandra was preceded in death by her siblings Gregory, Denise, John, and son Michael. She is survived by her brother James.

Sandra leaves to cherish her memories, her children Walter, Maxine (Fred), and Roderick; and grandkids Jasmine, DeVante, Kiara, Tiberius, Samuel, Elijah, and Isaiah; and a host of nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, and cousins in addition to church family and friends.

All whom loved her dearly will never forget her tenacity, wit, charm, and undying love and caring for them.
