Mark L. Phillips, Age 70, of Detroit, MI passed away on February 2, 2019.

Mark Leonard Phillips was born on June 5, 1948 in Detroit, Michigan to Miriam Phillips and Theodore Parker. He was educated in the Detroit Public Schools and graduated from Central High in 1966. He continued his education at Wayne State University and received a degree in Labor Relations.

Mark worked for the City of Detroit and was an active member of AFSCME serving as Vice President of Local 229 then proceeded to be president of the same local. He also was active in Council 25 serving as Executive Board Member, and an Instructor for Black Men In Union. After retiring from the City of Detroit, Mark was Vice President of AFL-CIO R255 Sub-Chapter 98, State Wide Treasurer for Chapter 255, affiliate of Youth Minister at El Shaddai Christian Ministries, Executive Board Member for the Holsey Foundation Scholarship Fund and a member of Detroit School of the Hebrews Chapter.

Mark was ordained in 1984 and was Pastor of El Shaddai Christian Ministries. His mother, father and brother Jeffery preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his wife Delois, two children, Oneida (Charles) and Tashara, and a son by a previous marriage, Corey; two grandchildren, DeAmber and Charles; two brothers Michael and Kirk (Tameka); one sister Lillian (Andre); mother-in-law Earline Shows; four sister-in-laws Rachel (McKinley), Annette (Kemp), Della, Kim (William); two brothers-in-law Felix and Carl (Cathy), and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
