Kathleen M. Jones Darfler

March 18, 1948 — March 6, 2025

Wayne, MI

Kathleen Jones Darfler born March 18,1948 passed away on March 6, 2025.

Kathy was born in Detroit to the best mother on the face of the earth.

The youngest of eight children, 7 raised to adulthood, Kathy grew up close to both nieces and nephews who were like siblings to her. Her oldest nephews, Gordie Jones and Eric (Ric) Morgan were always referred to by her as #1 and #2.

As well as close family members they also grew to be great friends, as did the other nieces and nephews on into adulthood.

Kathy graduated from Romulus High School in 1966 along with her best classmates, many of whom remain close friends today.

After high school she went to work for Davis Collision, later called Davis Autobody Craftsmen, in Romulus.

These were her happiest working years mostly due to being able to work alongside her lifelong best friend Debi Davis and the rest of her treasured 'Davis' family. Everyone should be so lucky to work with people you truly love.

Kathy married James Darfler in June 1971. Everyone agrees that Jim was one of the best men they've ever known. Kathy felt blessed to have met and married him.

Their daughter Caitlin was born in 1983. Never was a child as treasured as Caitlin was. She filled Kathy’s and Jim's hearts with pride from her first breath. Watching her grow up was their biggest joy.

Having a lifelong best friend in Debi Davis was among the greatest blessing anyone could have. They met in 7th grade and their friendship endured until Debi passed away in May of 2021. They were best friends and sisters. Closer friends could never exist.

Kathy's family grew in the last decade with the addition of her daughter-by-choice Bernadette Brock. Bernadette, husband Alfred and their children Ella and Grayson gave Kathy the grandchildren she'd always wanted.

A highlight of her life was always politics. Touring the midwest with Bill Clinton in his first campaign for president was a high point. Kathy felt blessed to volunteer on the election of several successful US congressmen and senators.

Interest in local politics filled her later years. Kathy was proud to call Wayne home for the more than forty years.

Kathy insisted on honesty, integrity and the proper application of ability. The best for her family, friends, neighbors and the people of Wayne was always in the forefront of her mind and conversation during any talk of political or government topics. Kathy exemplified, leadership, direction and attention to detail as a wonderful example of a strong American leader.

Greyhounds and their people filled over 25 years of her life. Many of her closest friends came from the greyhound community.

Kathy lost her loving husband, Jim, in 2012.

Kathy was predeceased by siblings Gordon, Jean, Shirley, Ray, Jack and Patrick.
