Johnnie Lee Stamps, 93, of Romulus, MI passed away March 11, 2022.
Johnnie Lee Stamps was born October 4th, 1928, in Florence Mississippi to Simon and Luella Stamps. He was baptized at Brown Hill Missionary Baptist Church. He was also an alumnus of Piney Woods School where he graduated with honors. From there he joined the army and became Staff Sergeant Johnnie Lee Stamps.
Johnnie returned from the army and married Myrtle Washington who also lived in his hometown. They produced five beautiful children: Pamela Lee, Marilyn, Katherine, Johnnie Jr. and Jacqueline. He leaves to cherish his memory daughter Katherine (Stewart) Robinson and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Johnnie loved God, life, family and helping people. His leisure time was spent reading, hosting get togethers, taking folks on trips and boating. He always had a word of encouragement and well wishes for those he touched. He was a great supporter of education and served on the Westwood Board of Education.
Johnnie was also very close to his siblings. His last remaining sibling Lois lived thousands of miles away. She also passed on the same day as Johnnie, 20 minutes earlier. Johnnie passed peacefully with his daughter Katherine at his side.
