James Barfield, Age 70, of Detroit, MI passed away March 6, 2019.
April 16, 1948 was no ordinary day in Bessemer, Alabama, for on that day James Barfield was born to the parents of Willie James Dunning and Elizabeth (Barfield) Moore (preceded him in death). As he became of age, he attended public school in Jonesboro, Alabama.
In 1966 he moved to Detroit with a friend in search of employment. In his pursuit he landed a job working for Chrysler Automobile Manufacturing Company where he labored for 33 years before retiring.
He accepted Christ in his life and was baptized in 1998 at Solomon’s Temple. James affectionately known as “Sunny” enjoyed the company of family and friends while he barbequed and had cool-offs outside. Sunny took pride in his lawn, he had a green thumb and it showed in the beauty of his yard. Not only did he keep his yard looking nice, he kept his car clean and he enjoyed dressing to impress. Sunny was always draped in gold jewelry and wore his cool Kangol which he had one in every color to fit the occasion. Every time Sunny was around he was full of stories he loved to share that would uplift your spirit. He touched the lives of 4 generations with his love and wisdom. James peacefully departed this life on March 6th, 2019 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI.
James leaves to cherish his memories: one brother Willie Barfield (preceded him in death) and one sister Eunice (Barfield) Spencer: his love of 22 years Kimberly Fluellen; three children, James Anthony Dupree Barfield, Errick (Taija) and Eboni Wilson; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
