Garlin Sherrill, Jr., affectionately known as "Mike," passed away on September 27, 2024 in Belleville, Michigan, at the age of 69. Born on June 19, 1955, in Nuremburg, Germany, Mike's journey through life was marked by resilience, talent, and a profound love for his family and friends.
Mike dedicated over two decades of his career to the roofing, retiring from B. Steel Roofing where he was well regarded for his expertise and dedication. His work not only provided for his family but also showcased his unwavering commitment and strong work ethic.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Mike was an artistic soul with a great love for music. He was a talented guitar and piano player, often sharing his passion for melodies with others. As he delved deeper into his artistic side, he also revealed his remarkable talent for sketching and painting, allowing him to express himself in ways that brought joy not only to him but to those around him.
His life was rich with experiences, and he took pride in celebrating life to the fullest. Mike’s ability to find joy in every moment was one of his proudest accomplishments, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Mike is survived by his beloved partner Shelly McEwen, his son Mike Sherrill, and his daughter Yalonda Howell. He also cherished his step-daughter Amber McEwen Crawford and her husband, Doyle Crawford. His legacy continues through his sister Mary Koroi, his sister Alice Laurie, and his brother Danny Taylor. Mike was a loving grandfather to six grandchildren: Michael, Constance, Kalyn, Austin, Chanz, and Harlan, and a proud great-grandfather to four great-grandchildren: Adalyn, Raiden, Caleb, and Kaylie.
He was preceded in death by his mother Betty Young Taylor, stepfather Lee Taylor, sister Sandy Arquette, sister Pam Sands, brother-in-law Terry Sands, and grandson Michael Jay. Each of these individuals held a special place in his heart, and their memories will continue to bring comfort to his loved ones.
Mike's life was a tapestry woven with love, creativity, and an unwavering spirit. He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
