Sargeant Frank Benjamin Holmes, a proud Air Force veteran and dedicated family man, passed away on September 20, 2024, with his beloved daughter, Wendy, by his side. Born in Detroit, Frank was the eldest of three children born to Annie Mae Holmes. He was a loving brother to Eugene and Brenda, both of whom he now joins in eternal rest. Frank's life was a testament to hard work, loyalty, and love.
After graduating high school, Frank began his career at Chrysler on the assembly line, but, the call of duty led him to enlist in the United States Air Force in 1968. His five years of service, including his time in Vietnam, shaped his character and instilled in him a deep sense of patriotism. It was during his time stationed in Taiwan that he met his love and life partner, Li Yu Kuo.
Upon his honorable discharge, Frank returned to his roots at Chrysler, where he dedicated over five decades of his life. A year later, he and Li Yu exchanged vows, solidifying a love that blossomed across continents. Their union was blessed with the arrival of their daughter and only child, Wendy, two years later.
Frank was a man of simple pleasures. He cherished the quiet moments spent with Wendy, their daddy-daughter movie nights were a treasured tradition when she was young. He was a lifelong, die-hard Detroit sports enthusiast, with Sunday game days being especially sacred. His loyalty to the Detroit Lions never wavered, even in the face of adversity. He enjoyed spending time with friends and held a special fondness for birthdays and holidays, always ensuring his loved ones felt cherished and remembered.
His memory will live on through his daughter, Wendy, his life partner, Li Yu, and the countless lives he touched throughout his remarkable journey. Though he may be gone, his spirit will forever inspire and his legacy of kindness, loyalty, and love will remain forever in our hearts.
