Felton Harris, Sr.

Felton Harris, Sr., 97, of Romulus, MI passed away April 25, 2021.

Felton Harris, Sr. was born to the late Charles and Mabel Harris on December 1, 1923, in Columbus, Georgia.  He was the first of two children.

In 1948, Felton relocated to Detroit, Michigan after his discharge from the United States Army. Felton became a certified welder and later was promoted a line foreman at the Chrysler Corporation until he retired.

In 1951 he met the love of his life and he married Peggy Mildred Williams and to this union five children were born – Felton Jr., Deldre, Maurice, Danny and Iwieta.

Felton became a member of the Leland Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. Eugene Rhodes November 1960.  He decided to  move his membership to the Nehemiah Missionary Baptist Church to aid and assist his son Bishop Felton Harris Jr. in his newly formed ministry. Bishop Harris relocated to Richwood Texas and started The House of Prayer and Praise Ministries.  Brother Harris moved his membership presently to Romulus Community Baptist Church under the leadership of  Pastor Hiram McBurrows, Jr..

Felton had a strong determination and he was a great motivator. He had a way of pulling strength out of you that you didn’t think you had. Daddy loved his family and friends.  Once you had a place in his heart you were there forever.

Felton leaves his precious love and memories to his wife Peggy Mildred Harris whom preceded him in death with their granddaughter Anegelica Booker.  Felton leaves behind his children, Felton Harris Jr. (Patricia), Deldre Harris, Montanez Greenly, Maurice Harris (Augusta), Danny Harris, and Iwieta Harris. He was cherish by his beloved grandchildren  Adam Harris, Danielle Spinks, Jamiela Sullivan, Krystal Baker, Errol J. Sims, Caleb Sims, Joi Sims; (15) great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Brother Harris’ early journey came to an end on Sunday April 25, 2021.  He will be greeted at heaven’s gate by his wife Peggy Mildred Harris.
