Donald A. Picard Sr., a beloved figure whose life was characterized by dedication, craftsmanship, and a profound love for his family, passed away on February 24, 2025, in Garden City, Michigan. Born on December 22, 1944, in Detroit, Michigan, he carried the spirit of his hometown with him throughout his remarkable life.

An accomplished carpenter in the construction industry, Donald's craftsmanship was not merely a profession; it was an art form that he honed over decades. His hands, skilled and resolute, transformed raw materials into structures imbued with his dedication and care, leaving a lasting legacy that will be remembered by many.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Donald exemplified the virtues of service and bravery by willingly enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. His commitment to duty was matched only by his cherished hobbies and interests, which included spirited games of poker, the thrill of motorcycles and classic cars, and a passion for antiques that sparked countless hours of exploration and discovery. He found joy in prospecting and relished the time spent hunting with his father and brothers, experiences that etched indelible memories upon his heart.

Donald is survived by his devoted children, Ashley (Jamie) Lentz, Cherie (Patrick "Pat") O'Connor, Candace (Gary Waun) Higgins, Renee (Mike) Bobby, Donna (Jeff) Krampien, and Donald (Meghan) Picard Jr. His legacy will also be cherished by his 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, who carry forward the spirit of love and family that he cherished so dearly. He leaves to mourn his passing a host of family members, including his nephew David Picard and nieces Terri Picard and Marie Patrick, who will always remember his influence in their lives. 

Donald was predeceased by his parents, Sophie and Melbourne Picard, and his brothers Bernie Picard, Bill (Barb) Picard, and Merle Picard, who welcomed him home once again.

His memory will be enshrined not just in the structures he crafted, but in the hearts of all who knew him. Donald A. Picard Sr. was a man whose presence echoed with the warmth of love, loyalty, and laughter, and his spirit will undoubtedly continue to illuminate the lives of those left behind.
