Dolphus Brintley, Age 87, of Westland, MI passed away March 1, 2019.
Dolphus Brintley, Jr. was born on June 12, 1931 in Shelby, NC to the union of Dolphus and Mary Brintley. Bothe parents preceded him in death, and the following siblings: LC, Ambrose Sr., OB, Brenda (Pookie) Feaster, Marshall Sr., Marion Ramseur, Mary Jane Woods, Geneva Sanford, Eddie, Betty Jean and Sonny Boy Parks, Burnell Chambers and Madge.
Dolphus was educated in the Shelby Co. School System. He moved to Inkster, MI in 1951 and the following year on November 8, 1952, he married Marie Garrison and to this union six children were born. His eldest son, Dolphus III preceded him in death.
Dolphus and his brother’s, LC, Ambrose and Marshall inherited the gift of painting from their father. They started the Brintley Painting Co. and later Dolphus ventured off and started Kool Painting Co. Dolphus was well known in the Inkster Community. He painted numerous buildings and just to name a few, Inkster High School, Baylor Woodson and Bethlehem Temple. In the late 80’s, Dolphus opened North Carolina Fish and Rib. It was open for a short period, but the taste of the fish, rib and shrimp are forever imbedded in the taste buds of everybody who patronized this corner spot on Middebelt Road.
Dolphus was baptized in Jesus Name and filled with the Precious Holy Ghost at Bethlehem Temple Church of Inkster under the leadership of District Elder O. G. Hayes where he served as a Trustee. Later, he became a member of Greater Grace Temple Taylor under the leadership of Bishop Gary Harper where he was a faithful member. On March 1st, 2019, surrounded by his loving family, the Lord called him home.
Dolphus leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 66 years Marie; his children, Heloise Miller, Sheila Johnson, Shirley (Kevin) Herron, Bertram (Lynn) Brintley, Andre (Ricky) Brintley; his grandchildren, Angela (James) Childrey, Ronall (preceded him in death), Tanyka (Fred) Triplett, Carlton (Talia) Seaton, Byron, Ivory, Shavon, Omar (Ebony) Johnson, Christian, Kevin Jr., Elondre, Ellesia, Antoine, Bertram Jr., JayVon, Javaye, Thomas, Dorian and Paige; 20 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; his siblings, Ida Mae Willis, Liz Milledge, baby Ruth Goodman, Sue (Bobby) Miller, Rose Corry, Margaret (Glen) Vincent, Cleve (Jackie) Brintley, Anita Davis; special son Sidney Crawford; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
