Bessie Malloy

d. January 24, 2022

Bessie Marie Malloy, 94, of Garden City, MI passed away January 24, 2022.

Bessie M. Malloy was born on October 8, 1927, in Leek County, Mississippi to the late Lela and Albert Colston. She was the 2nd oldest of 6 children; Katherine Dawkins, Lerlean Edwards, Charles Colston, Gertrude Grady, and Isaac Colston who have all preceded her in death.

Bessie, affectionately known as “Honey” migrated to Inkster, Michigan where she was educated in the Inkster Public School System. There she developed a passion for sewing and had ambitions of becoming a seamstress.

After high school, it was her desire to join the United States Military, however circumstances did not allow. In 1950, she married the love of her life, Carl Malloy. To this union, 4 beautiful daughters were born.

She was a hard worker and held many positions throughout her life. She was most recently employed by Dobbs House (currently Gate Gourmet) for 33 years before retiring in 2005.

Bessie gave her life to Christ at an early age. She was baptized at Amity Baptist church where she was a faithful member for many years. There she served on the usher board and was also a member of the choir; singing was one of her passions. Bessie had a tenacious yet giving spirit. She was small in stature but had a heart of gold.

She was a loyal and dedicated daughter, caring for her mother up until her passing. She loved her family. Spending time with her children and grandchildren was what she looked forward to most.

Bessie was called back to heaven at the young age of 94. She lived a full life and was showered with love from her children and grandchildren up until her final moments.

She leaves to cherish her memories 4 daughters: Caroline (Larry) Gardner; Lorraine (Micah) Kennedy; Dorothy Jean (Irvin) Hall and Carlene (Norman) Mapson. 16 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
